The guided tours provide answers to the question: “Where does the Pope come from?” After an introductory multivision presentation, the stages of Joseph Ratzinger´s life up to his election as Pope will be traced, before concentrating on the question of the Pope´s origin while dwelling in the Papal Room and the Birth Room. The walk to the baptismal font forms the conclusion to a guided tour marked by its biographical focus.

Pope Benedict House seen through the eyes of children. There are things waiting to be discovered by the children and an accompanying leaflet for filling in and taking home. These guided tours are conceived for children up to 12 years old and are especially suited to First Communion groups and primary school classes.

When a person wants to know something about their own roots he returns to his place of birth – physically or mentally. Whoever wants to know something about Benedict XVI and his roots comes to Pope Benedict House in Marktl. The group will be guided specifically to those parts of the exhibition where Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI speaks about his own origins. His reflections on his own origins can be a key to the questions: Where am I from? Where am I at home? Where are my roots?

The Italians affectionately call Benedict XVI il papa teologo – the Theologian Pope. This guided tour takes as its theme the theological development of Joseph Ratzinger. A special focus will be put on the Joseph Ratzinger´s contact to Cardinal Joseph Frings and his work as theological adviser at the Second Vatican Council.
